I know, I know it's been a while since I last posted in here, but with spring upon us, I've been so busy. jjfavors, the business that Jennifer and I own, have been stealing our time for the last month or so. We supported a fundraiser by the Miss Deaf South Dakota committee where they would take orders for monogrammed cards and once the orders were taken, Jennifer and I would make the orders and complete the orders, splitting up percentages of the profits.
This proved to be a learning experience for jjfavors! Never again will we allow people to order what they would like because we didn't realize how limited the stock of paper would be for the cards! Now we're trying a different approach, we are going to pre-make the cards (except for stamping the monogram onto the card), and at our upcoming booths, we will have the samples ready, and then when people comment on a card or point out one that they want, we will make it for them, after learning what letter they want stamped onto the card. This would make it a lot easier for me and Jennifer. However after completing the Miss Deaf South Dakota orders, we have been busy pre-making the cards, and our next booth is May 6th! We also have another one lined up for June 17.
jjfavors hit its 1 year anniversary on April 7, 2006. Looking back on the year, it has been quite an experience co-owning a crafts business. On the surface it may look easy, at the beginning it was easy! But since we expanded, I've learned that a lot goes on behind the scenes that people don't realize. That is not stopping Jennifer or me from putting our hearts and our love into our products. Because people who purchase our products are likely to feel the love and the hard work that went into the products. All of our products are handmade, and as Jennifer and I would like to think, unique as well!
We just set up a blog for our business, so that people can learn more about it - the address is http://jjfavors.blogspot.com. Feel free to check it out (only one post in there now), but check it out from time to time to learn what it's like to own a business and what we've done for our community and what we're offering! We also have an email address: jjfavors@gmail.com if you would like to get more information!
I see that this post is all about jjfavors, well, it's the only thing on my mind these days, being so busy with it and all! But there's also something else that's on my mind - BASEBALL! But that's something for another post. *smiles*
Signing off,
a LOYAL Blue Jays fan
