For some of you who may or may not know, I donated my old trusty grasshopper to charity in December of 2004. My trusty grasshopper was replaced with an used 1998 Grand Am as you can see in the pictures above.

The Grasshopper was very faithful, it endured my accidents, my travels throughout college from 1999 on, and it carried me all the way to Sioux Falls, South Dakota when I graduated from college. While in Sioux Falls, the Grasshopper carried me to Minnesota and Omaha on different visits. Then in April of 2003, we took the Grasshopper for her final voyage, this one to Rochester, New York for Brickfest 2003. Amy and Vickie, two friends, came with me. Once we got back, things started popping up with the Grasshopper, she was nearing the end, and I knew it. My baby refused to give up, and I had her for as long as I could.

September 6, 2003: Grasshopper's fateful day, it's when everything went downhill for her. I was in Omaha with my roommate, Katie and a friend, Angela to see the zoo there, and to get a day trip out of it (just for the heck of it). On our way back to Sioux Falls, another roommate paged Katie and said that something had happened to my car. Katie didn't say anything to me until we dropped Angela off at home and she told me just as we were heading home. She said, "Erin didn't want to page you and upset you, so she paged me, something happened to your car." My first thought - my BABY! My trusty Grasshopper.

Katie and I got home, the first thing I did was check out my car. It wasn't very good, my tire was flat, and there was this dent on the drivers' door (the entire length of it - I had a 2 door car!), it had been a hit and run. I called the police, and they made a report, but they could never find out who did it as there wasn't enough evidence.

Even though she wasn't in the best shape, on the outside (with the dents) but the engine was better for a car that was nearly 10 years old! My Grasshopper still carried me to and from work for another 11 months. By August 2004, I knew it was time to look for another car, I was terrified. I couldn't give up my baby, but I knew, for my own safety and for the safety of everyone who would ride with me, I had to get another car.

I started looking, but couldn't find a suitable replacement until September, in the 1998 Grand Am, my Polar Bear. The Polar Bear just took its first long distance trip, up to Minnesota, last June. For this trip, I had a friend, Willie, with me. And I learned that Polar Bear does not like long trips. When Willie was driving up I-35, just outside of Faribault, a tire came loose, fortunately we were all fine, but I ended up forking over $100+ for repairs! :)

Ever since, I've heeded to Polar Bear's wishes, keeping her long distance trips to a maximum of an hour of two. She has quite a temperament. :)

So now you know I no longer have my beloved Grasshopper, but in its place, I now have my temperamental Polar Bear. :)

Shutterbugenuj?!? you may ask...

I'm a picture lover - leading my good friend Amy to start calling me Shutterbug every time I take out my digital camera, she hates to be in pictures, but often when I have to beg or cajole her, she will give in most of the time if she's in the mood. *grins* I will be posting pictures on here every now and then.

Anyway, back to the name I picked: http://shutterbugenuj.blogspot.com. Originally I wanted sapphireeyes, but that was already taken, and I tried to fit the best name for me that I would like a year from now. I even went to www.m-w.com to find out "related words" for curly, park, june, etc. Still didn't come up with anything. Desperate - I asked my coworkers how they would describe me - believe me, my coworkers already have so many nicknames for me, so they were absolutely NO help! *winks* Then I thought about the purpose for this blog, and I figured that it would be a place for me to share pictures, hence shutterbug, but even shutterbugjune wasn't available. So I swapped my name to read backwards, and AHA - was able to grab hold on to this name so it's something that identifies me and it's also *ahem* something that I know I will like a year from now.

Enjoy!
